This database is a compilation of currently available mating disruption products targeting codling moth. Mating disruption utilizes synthetic pheromones that mimic female sex pheromones, to confuse the male moths and prevent/delay mating. It is species-specific, can reduce overall insecticide applications, and is safe for the environment, humans, and non-target organisms.

The products are grouped into the three methods of application: aerosol, passive, and flowable.
Aerosol Emitters: Think of a typical pressurized aerosol can product (i.e. deodorant spray, hair spray, household cleaning sprays) that instead releases the synthetic female pheromone (codlemone). The canister is housed with a specialized nozzle head releasing a plume (spray/puff) at timed intervals.
Passive Dispensers: A single dispenser is a rubber piece or sachet infused with the synthesized female pheromone (codlemone). Once placed on the tree, the dispensers release (volatilize) the pheromone through no mechanical aid. They are designed to withstand the elements of weather (sun, wind, rain), ensuring consistent, season-long release. They can be better suited for small, irregularly shaped blocks.
Flowables: A liquid, flowable version of the pheromone. It is tank-mix compatible, meaning it can be combined with other tank-mixable formulations. When mixed with water, this sprayable pheromone formulation can be applied with an air blast sprayer or via aerial application.
